it's been a rough night, and now it's a chilly morning. About 50-52°F upstairs judging by my battery sensor when i got up, before i had handled my phone yet.

I think we're going to have some coffee (ground by hand of course). Mom is still in bed, but will likely be up soon. Then we can start looking into extricating ourselves from this precarious situation. If possible.

we had scrambled eggs in the already dirty taco meat pan (no sink water with which to wash anything). i'm doing my best to help conserve resources and offer suggestions. i think i may have ordered mom a few times yesterday, without thinking, and i'm struggling to stop doing so.

next up: slush pots for toilet water, cus we're out.

The long task of sawing our way to freedom begins. There were four obstructions on the upper driveway, and five on the lower. We cleared the upper, as it was easier, and started on the lower, but it still has three logs laying across it (several dangling dangerously high in the air).

I'm starting to get a headache, today, even though it's been considerably more relaxed and less terrifying. I don't know if it's the work I did melting snow in the big pot on the Trapper propane burner, or stress. I'm so worried dad is going to hurt himself with the saw, or a log, and we can't even get out of here.

It would be agonising watching him bleed to death and not be able to do anything to help him.

I sent a blurb to my sister, friendby, and a friend this morning, asking one to forward to another friend. My sister had no idea, so I feel a little sorry i even let her know.

I already have 3100 steps today. I hope I don't need to do too many more, i'm so tired.

tried to send this out to various folks, but nothing doing. It started snowing again, and there's NO reception.

Hihi. Going ahead and sending a little early since it's starting to powder a
bit of light snow. (Darn, make that heavy.) Want to get this out before
reception is bad. (Never mind, not sure this is gonna send.)

Day has been good. We've made progress unblocking a few trees in the driveway,
and someone at the highway on our road came up to check on us, so we know it's
possible to walk out if we needed to.

Food and water is fine, and the neighbour said she'd help bring us supplies if
needed (or at least help get them to us).

Generator works well enough for now to stave off entirely dead devices. Network
is still impossible. When it's snowing I can't get a signal without trying for
an hour.

Love to you all, hope to see and hear from you once things are back to normal.

Wow has this day been long as heck.

We made paths to quite a few areas today in the snow, and they're currently being obliterated by the fresh powder. Fortunately, we think the trees our neighbours (with a little help from mom and dad) cleared between here and the hill will still be invaluable tomorrow should more fall. (More to do tomorrow is always worse than less.)

I'm terrified that more trees will fall tonight, but unfortunately that's always a danger, not just when it snows.

We put a few linens and towels up on places that were chilly or felt like they were letting warmth out. Like the stereo cabinet and sliding door upstairs. I also put things at the floorboards of the attic door and my bedroom, since I'm staying out of there basically entirely, since it's so chilly.

I'm sorry, I just don't have the energy for more writing tonight. Mom wants to play games to distract us and I'm too tired even for that.
