Tags: gaming hardware software work ill tired Location: home
I frustrates me when I'm too tired to update this. I do it more for myself than anything, but I suppose that's somewhat obvious.
Things that have happened. For starters, I have a job again! (Huzzah!) I'm actually home sick from it today, but that's another story in and of itself. (Which I'm not going into here.)
The job is great, I love the people with whom I work. I'm in Quality Assurance (QA), which is basically what I was doing at my last job. If you are interested for some reason, we make educational web-based software. It's all quite the rage, I believe. (I wouldn't know, not being a student or a teacher.)
Here's the "LLQA crew". Note no images of my supervisors appear here, as they're photo-shy thus far.
I also have a new addition to my little computer "family". An Apple "Sawtooth" 450MHz G4. At least it was 450MHz when I bought it used.
It also had a 20GB hard drive (which turned out to be dying), and 256K or RAM. It is now a 1.4GHz G4 with 1.5GBs of ram, and over 300GB of storage.
I'm working on adding more hard drive space, too, as I am running low. This new addition has overthrown the PIIs and sent them packing back to the storage closet. All for the better, however, as the G4 is a lot more fun and considerably more useful. Also infinitely faster to boot. (Pun?)

I'm so ready for bed... anyway, some other goings-on: I received a Canon EOS Digital Rebel for the holidays, so I've been amassing a rather large collection of digital photographs. (That's part of the reason for being concerned about storage space, among others.) It's great fun, and I've been thoroughly enjoying it. I've been wishing for a new digital camera for quite a long space of time, and this fits the bill in more ways than one. Owing to this gift, there may be a bit more in the way of photography here in the future. If I veer away from my current scheme of being exceedingly lazy and avoiding my page maintenance, that is.
I stayed home from work today because I felt like the bottom of a cat pan. I've continued to feel that way much of this evening, however, so perhaps it would have made less difference than I thought had I gone in anyway. Moot point, but worth bringing up, as this is the first time I've really been sick in... well, I can't remember the last time I was really sick. I'm not even sure I'm sick now, just worn the hell out. (I'm not positive, but I think I'm over-doing it at my job or something.) Oh well, that's what I get for being half perfectionist and half hyperactive. (If a stabbing headache combined with exhaustion and intermittent nose-bleed isn't cause for staying home, I may as well just move into the office building, because I'll be there for a long time. I don't get sick overly often these days.)
I've been playing Quake 2 a bit of late. (Yeah, yeah, I finally broke my self-imposed "no games" rule. It lasted for several months, and was great while I was unemployed, but now that I have a job again it's nice to be able to come home and spend at least a few minutes zipping around in a non-meat-space world.)
I'd forgotten how engaging some of the maps in Q2 are, especially some of the convoluted, sauce-pan puzzles that involve hopping back and forth from map to map. It may be a pretty old game, by most standards, but still one of my favourites. I've heard nothing but "you have to play Halflife 2", from one co-worker, and it's kind of aggravating. Owing to a lack of funds at the current time/space interval I'm unable to swing purchasing components for a new box. That's okay, though, I already have more systems than I know what to do with, and less space than I'd like in which to toy with them. (This will be changing in only a few months, however.)
